CENTER OF MY UNDERWORLD - WEEKLY UPDATE #26 - HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021!

Happy New Year everyone!

James here back with another update for Center of My Underworld!

I do hope you all had a safe new year. Hopefully you party animals didn't party too hard, lol.

Since the start of January I've been swamped with work for new character sprites. 

So far it's going pretty well. More slow than I would like, but as you know these things take time. 

We (meaning my artists) just finished one this last week. The character came out excellent! :)

As far as programming goes things have come to a screeching halt for the moment. 

There's other things that need work in the game right now. Programming will probably start up again next week again.

In other news I've been thinking on possible design choices for the games dialogue box. In about a month or so something should be cooking with that problem. Text font as I've stated before also needs work.

The games whole UI needs work really. So I'm going to do my absolute best to get a lot of it fixed/finished before March of this year. At least that's the time frame I have in mind for it anyway.

Now for the games story...

My editor (Kata) and I have were very busy with it in the late days of last month (December).

We made some decent headway, but there is still so much to be done on it. 

It's all left me rather exhausted actually. I feel like I could sleep for a week, if given the chance. 

(Sigh) Unfortunately I can't afford any more time away from this project. I might be moving out of my state in the next couple of months. If that happens, there's no telling how long this project will be put on hold for. Ugh, here I go talking about things that may or may not happen though. So I'll keep a lid on that subject until I deem it necessary to bring up again.

Anyway, before I go, I would like to say a couple things.

Firstly, I want to thank each and everyone of you that's been following this this blog since it's start all the way back in 2019.

It's been a bumpy road. Those first couple of blog posts weren't the best in terms of content.

In a lot of ways they were quite sloppy. But what can you do? You live and you learn. A close friend of mine tell's me that she actually enjoyed them and that I'm being too hard on myself. Lol, if you say so. 

Secondly, I would like to say that I'm going to make it a personal mission of mine to produce more blog posts and content for you guys/gals this year. Things were a little lite last year. I wanted to to do more, but events in real life kind of threw a monkey wrench into certain aspects of this project. Things are back up and running again, but for a long while there, things were really screwed up. I wish I could blame all of it on real life things, though if I'm going to be honest, work on my other visual novel kept me away for awhile. Pssst, let me let all of you in on a little secret. If you're ever writing a novel, or working on a project, don't start up another one until you finish the first one. No matter how amazing your work ethic is, it'll eventually leak into your other projects. Or worse, your real life. Both projects are my babies. I hold them very close to my heart. They are both a labor of love and I'm doing my damnedest to make both a reality. Bare in mind, I will be making no money from Center of My Underworld. My second project/VN on the other hand is it's own 100% thing. All from my mind. What I end up doing with that release wise remains to be seen. Sometime soon I'll try to post a screen grab or 2 of it onto this blog. 

Lastly, I want to apologize to some family and friends I may have snubbed last year in order to spend more time on my projects. I can sometimes be a little selfish when it comes to working on stuff. There's a few moment's in particular last year that I flaked out on people. I'm not proud of it, and I should have set more time aside for you. Certain members of my peer group read this blog. So if you're reading this, just know that I'm sorry. I'll try, scratch that, I WILL manage my time better this next year. 

Anyway, enough of that. Let me get off this soap box and dust myself off, lol. 

I promise future blog posts won't be this sappy and preachy. I will keep most of it game related. I just needed to get some things off my chest before I started 2021, and what better place to do it than a fan game visual novel blog!?

I just loaded up Mindy's route as I was typing this update. (Sigh) Looks like Center of My Underworld needs (yet again) some bug fixes. And here I was thinking I was going to get a full nights sleep tonight... :(
